Ingredients
  • 3 hearts Romaine lettuce
  • 5 cloves GarlicSmashed and roughly chopped
  • 2 tablespoons OilFor sautéing garlic
  • 2 tablespoons Oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Soy sauceChinese light soy sauce or Japanese shoyu
  • 3 tablespoons Water
  • Salt(optional)To taste

    Smash and roughly chop 5 cloves of garlic.

    Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a wok over relatively high heat.

    Add the garlic to the oil and sauté until it sweats and the rawness is cooked out, without browning.

    Add 2 tablespoons of oyster sauce, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, and 3 tablespoons of water to the garlic. Simmer the sauce.

    Blanch the romaine lettuce in salted boiling water for about 20 seconds until wilted but still crisp.

    Plate the wilted romaine and pour the sauce over it.
