Ingredients
  • 2 cups Flour
  • 1/2 cup Icing sugarAlso known as powdered sugar
  • Orange zestZest of one orange
  • 1 cup ButterCold
  • 1 pinch Salt(optional)Skip if using salted butter
  • 1 count EggBeaten
  • Mincemeat fillingStore-bought or homemade
  • Egg washFor brushing the lids
  • Icing sugarFor dusting

    Add flour to a food processor.

    Add icing sugar and orange zest.

    Add cold butter and a pinch of salt.

    Pulse until mixture resembles breadcrumbs.

    Add beaten egg and mix until dough forms.

    Wrap dough in cling film and refrigerate for 15 minutes.

    Preheat oven to 180°C (355°F).

    Roll out pastry and cut into circles for pie bases.

    Place pastry bases into greased tart tin and dock with a fork.

    Fill each base with mincemeat filling.

    Cut and place lids on pies, brush with egg wash.
