  • Floursifted
  • Orange zestfor fragrance
  • Brown sugar
  • Treacle
  • 1 Egglightly whisked
  • Milk
  • Butterfor greasing
  • Butterfor sauce
  • Brown sugarfor sauce
  • Golden syrupfor sauce
  • Salt(optional)pinch, for sauce
  • Vanilla seedsfor sauce
  • Creamfor sauce

    Sift the flour into a bowl.

    Add orange zest and brown sugar.

    Add treacle and mix well.

    Lightly whisk an egg and mix it with milk.

    Combine the egg and milk mixture with the flour mixture.

    Grease a pudding basin with butter.

    Pour the mixture into the basin, cover with parchment paper and foil.

    Place the basin in a pan of water and steam for 2 hours with a lid on.

    For the butterscotch sauce, melt butter in a pan, add brown sugar, golden syrup, salt, and vanilla seeds.
