- •1 cup Cheddar cheeseGrated, mix of mature white cheddar and red Leicester

Mix dry ingredients: self-raising flour, baking powder (if using plain flour), mustard powder, turmeric, and salt (if using unsalted butter).

Sift dry ingredients into a large bowl.

Add diced butter and rub into flour until it resembles breadcrumbs.

Add grated cheese and fold into the mixture.

Pour milk over dry ingredients and combine using a knife, then bring together with hands.
