Ingredients
  • 400 grams Flour
  • 256 grams WaterUse bottled or filtered water
  • 8 grams ButterSoftened
  • 6 grams Dried yeastActive dried yeast
  • 8 grams Salt
  • 12 grams Sugar

    Mix sugar into warm water until dissolved, then add dried yeast. Let sit for 10 minutes to activate.

    Add flour and salt to a mixing bowl and combine.

    Add yeast mixture and softened butter to the flour mixture. Knead for 10 minutes using a stand mixer or by hand.

    Form dough into a ball, place in a lightly oiled bowl, and cover. Let proof in a warm spot for 1 hour until doubled in size.

    Turn out dough, knock back, and divide into four equal pieces. Shape into ovals and let rest for 5 minutes.

    Shape dough into final rolls, place on a greased baking tray, and cover. Let proof for 45-60 minutes in a warm spot.

    Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F). Place a pan of hot water in the oven for steam.

    Dust rolls with flour and bake for 15 minutes, turning halfway through for even baking.

    Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack.
