Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C) and prepare a bundt pan by brushing with melted butter and dusting with flour.

In a large bowl, whisk together 3 cups of flour, 3/4 teaspoon of baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Set aside.

Cream 1 cup of room temperature butter with 2 cups of sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.

Add 4 eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

Alternate adding the flour mixture and 1 cup of whole milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the flour. Mix until just combined.

Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for about 1 hour or until a toothpick comes out clean.

For the butter sauce, melt 5 tablespoons of butter with 1/4 cup of water and 3/4 cup of sugar over medium heat until melted and slightly thickened. Stir in 1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.

Pour the butter sauce over the hot cake and let it soak for about 15 minutes before serving.
