Minced or Ground Beef and Onion Pie

- •340 grams Plain flouror all-purpose flour

- •85 grams Buttercold
- •85 grams Lardor shortening, cold
- •60 ml Water
- •1 large Egg(optional)well-beaten, optional for pastry
- •2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
- •2 large Onionssoft and transparent
- •500 grams Ground beef5% fat content
- •2 count Beef stock cubese.g., Oxo
- •1 teaspoon Cornflour(optional)mixed in cold water, optional for thickening
- •30 grams Beef gravy granules(optional)for thickening and flavor
- •dash Milk(optional)for egg wash

Make the pastry by combining flour, salt, butter, and lard in a food processor until it resembles breadcrumbs. Add water and mix until dough forms. Chill for 30 minutes.

Grease a 23 cm pie tin with lard or butter.

Fry onions in oil until soft and transparent, about 4-5 minutes.

Add ground beef to onions, cook until browned. Add beef stock cubes and water, simmer.

Thicken filling with cornflour or gravy granules. Season to taste.

Roll out pastry, line pie tin with base pastry. Add filling.

Cover with top pastry, crimp edges, and brush with egg wash. Prick holes for ventilation.

Bake in preheated oven at 170°C (340°F) for 35 minutes.
