  • 1 cup Warm milk
  • 2 tbsp Sugar
  • 1 EggOr use an extra 50g of milk instead
  • 2 tsp YeastActivated
  • 2 tbsp Olive oilOr any neutral cooking oil
  • 4 cups Flour
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Allspice
  • 1 tsp Ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp NutmegFreshly ground
  • 1 cup Dried fruits(optional)Or use chocolate chips instead
  • 1 cup Chocolate chips(optional)Alternative to dried fruits
  • 1/2 cup Flour (for crosses)For the cross paste
  • 2 tbsp Icing sugarFor the cross paste
  • 2 tbsp WaterFor the cross paste
  • 2 tbsp Sugar (for glaze)For the glaze
  • 2 tbsp Boiling waterFor the glaze

    Mix warm milk, sugar, and egg (or extra milk if not using egg).

    Add yeast and let it activate for 10 minutes.

    Combine flour, salt, allspice, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

    Mix dry ingredients with yeast mixture and olive oil.

    Knead dough for 10 minutes.

    Let dough proof for 1 hour until doubled in size.

    Divide dough into 12 pieces and shape into balls.

    Place dough balls in a greased baking tin and let proof for 45 minutes.

    Prepare cross paste and pipe crosses on buns.
