Ingredients
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1 cup Warm water
  • 1 tsp Dry yeastInstant or active dried yeast
  • 2 cups Plain flourAll-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Baking powderSifted

    Add sugar to warm water and mix. Add dry yeast and mix well. Set aside until it activates.

    In a bowl, combine the activated yeast mixture with plain flour and baking powder. Whisk well for 1-2 minutes.

    Cover the bowl and let the mixture proof in a warm spot for 45 minutes.

    Heat a non-stick frying pan to 190°C (375°F). Grease crumpet rings with olive oil and butter.

    Place rings in the pan and fill halfway with crumpet mix. Cook until holes appear and tops are less gooey, about 5 minutes.

    Remove rings, flip crumpets, and brown the tops. Remove and cool on a wire rack.
