Ingredients
  • 100 G Plain flourfor pastry
  • 55 G Butterfor pastry
  • 45 G Lard(optional)or use all butter
  • Ice cold wateras needed for pastry
  • 3 Eggsfor filling
  • 200 ml Creamfor filling
  • Saltto taste
  • Shallotsdiced, for filling
  • Spring onions(optional)or use white/red onions, diced
  • Cheddar cheesegrated, for filling

    Prepare the shortcrust pastry by combining flour, salt, butter, and lard in a food processor until breadcrumb consistency.

    Add ice cold water slowly until the pastry forms a dough. Chill for at least 30 minutes.

    Preheat oven to 180°C (355°F). Roll out the pastry and line a greased pie tin.

    Blind bake the pastry with parchment and rice for 30 minutes.

    Prepare the filling by whisking eggs, cream, and salt.

    Layer onions and cheese in the pastry case, pour over the egg mixture.
