  • 400 g Flourfor pastry
  • Icing sugaralso known as powdered sugar
  • Buttercold, salted or unsalted with a pinch of salt
  • 1 count Eggbeaten
  • ApplesBrayburn or Pink Lady, peeled and diced
  • Lemon juiceto prevent browning
  • Sugarfor caramelizing apples
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Nutmegfreshly grated
  • Butterfor cooking apples
  • Oatsfor crumble
  • Demerara sugar(optional)or granulated sugar
  • Saltfor crumble

    Prepare the sweet pastry by mixing flour, icing sugar, and cold butter. Add beaten egg until dough forms. Chill for 30 minutes.

    Cook diced apples with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and butter until soft. Set aside.

    Make crumble mix by combining flour, oats, sugar, butter, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Chill until needed.

    Preheat oven to 180°C (355°F). Roll out pastry and line pie tins. Blind bake for 25 minutes.

    Fill pastry cases with apple filling and top with crumble mix. Bake for another 25 minutes.
