Ingredients
  • 2 cups Self-raising flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder(optional)Add if using plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon English mustard powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric(optional)For color and flavor
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt(optional)Only if using unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup ButterCold and diced
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheeseGrated, mix of mature white and red Leicester
  • 70 ml MilkFull or half fat

    Sift the self-raising flour and baking powder together.

    Add mustard powder, turmeric, and salt (if using unsalted butter).

    Rub in the cold, diced butter until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.

    Fold in the grated cheddar cheese.

    Add milk and combine to form a dough.

    Roll out the dough to about 1 inch thick and cut into scones.

    Preheat air fryer to 180°C (355°F) for 1 minute.

    Place scones in air fryer basket on parchment paper, brush with milk, and sprinkle with cheese.

    Air fry at 180°C (355°F) for 10 minutes.

    Remove scones and let cool slightly before serving.
