Sun-dry vanilla beans on a towel during the day, then roll them up in the towel at night to keep them warm and “sweat,” repeating for about four weeks.
How to dry vanilla beans using only an oven light (no heat)
After boiling, dry vanilla beans in an oven with the oven OFF and only the oven light on as a low-warmth drying method.
How to “shock” vanilla beans in boiling water to stop growth before curing
Briefly boil harvested vanilla beans for about 1 minute to shock them and stop growth before drying/curing.
How to tell when vanilla beans are ready to harvest (watch the tip color and splitting)
